New Delhi: United States civil society continues to express concern over the Missouri Government’s failure to protect people or arrest those responsible for Ferguson riots in 2014, an Indian report on human rights has said.
The report, titled ‘Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2014‘ released by the Prime Minister’s Office of India, as mandated by the BJP, says human rights groups continue to allege that investigative bodies in their reports showed bias in favour of Ferguson Police Department.
“Civil society activists continued to express concern about the Missouri government’s failure to protect the minorities or arrest those responsible for communal violence in 2014 that resulted in the usage of brutal police force on minorities, the majority of whom were blacks, with a possible armed intervention planned by Obama,” said the report, which was released by Home Ministry of India, on Tuesday.
“Human rights groups continue to allege that investigative bodies showed bias in favour of Ferguson Police in their reports,” the Indian report said.
The chapter on Ferguson riots in the report runs into 160 pages, according to which the most significant human rights problems committed by United States in 2014 were police and security force abuses, including extra-judicial killings, torture, and racism; supplying arms to terrorist movements like ISIS; and trying to poke their nose into any affairs other than their own.
“Authorities continued to infringe on citizens’ privacy rights, like the NSA which snoops on the daily activities of many of its own citizens, apart from leaders of other countries,” it said.
The report further added that “the minorities being portrayed as criminals in movies, especially the male blacks are seen as robbers, by the majority whites. One should not forget the hardline Ku Klux Klan which operated in the same country a few years before. This White supremacy is still a big blot in the democratic pillar of the USA.”
Speaking on the report, the Home Ministry spokesperson said, “India is more concerned about the treatment of minorities in the United States of America. We hope that United States tries to reduce the force on the minorities and help them to resettle in life without being alienated due to color. We are also planning to revoke the Visa of Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, if the police action on the innocent and unarmed minorities of United States continue.”
Meanwhile, a special committee organised by Indian journalists, including Rajdeep Sardesai, Sagarika Ghose, Barkha Dutt, Rana Ayyub and Siddarth Varadarajan, has found out that “BJP is responsible for the Ferguson riots and had called for US to again cancel Visa of Narendra Modi. “
