Stuart Binny's foreign internship finally ends

27, Mar 2015 By Shalin Sheth

Stuart Binny, better known as Binny Jr., has finally completed his foreign internship down under. While his selection ahead of Yuvraj for the world cup had sparked a controversy earlier this year, speculations of nepotism had been put to rest when captain MS Dhoni had given the clarification that he was India’s best seam bowling all rounder. We asked Stuart about this. “Pop has been really supportive and he tried his best to get me the ticket to Australia. He and MS had to sit and discuss believable explanations and finally came up with this all rounder thing!”, he chuckled.

Apparently, the captain had said that a seam bowling all rounder would be crucial in Australian conditions, but Stuart didn’t get a match in the world cup, even against teams like UAE. “Well of course a bowling all rounder is handy to have, but we can’t let interns play in world cup matches. Stuart was included in the squad, but thankfully the selectors don’t get much say in the playing XI.”, MS winked. He further added,”I have some friends who’re doing engineering. They get internships through contacts, not on merit. I don’t understand why this is being so much discussed. Binny has learnt a lot and he will continue interning with us in the future. Aap bhi samjho, if best XI were selected from a country of 1.3 billion, wouldn’t we win most of the matches?”

Stuart has enjoyed his tour immensely and now has valuable experience. “I didn’t even know how to fasten the seat belt in the air plane, Dhoni bhaiya took good care of me. The stipend was unbelievable. This internship has changed me as a person. All I hope is that I don’t have to bowl to Yuvraj in the IPL, seniors say he wasn’t really happy with my inclusion in the team”, he said, almost choking on his last words.
