Star Sports rebrands again; sheds 'Star' branding

06, Dec 2013 By fofasia

Mumbai: Just a month after the re-branding, STAR India now has again revamped the sports network. The company has removed the name ‘Star’ from the channel’s identity by naming all the channels as Cric Sports 1, 2, 3, 4, Cric HD1 and Cric HD2.

In an official communication, Splendid Shankar, CEO, STAR India, says, “We had hired few creative directors from India TV before the initial rebrand exercise. Some of their creations like Invincible Ishant, Jazzy Jadeja fetched a record viewer-ship for us. We will plan more of it, have wider coverage, go deeper and thus the re-brand”

The network has launched TVCs featuring Ishant Sharma, promoting the campaign ‘Can’t Believe it!’ that the network now stands for.“We were planning to have Rahul Gandhi as the brand ambassador thanks to the huge support he received during recently concluded India WI test series. But he opted out saying he may settle outside India by mid of next year. So we had to go for next obvious choice Ishant Sharma”, Shankar added.

There are rumors that famous Gutthi will start a show in all of these channels. In an interview Sunil Grover aka Gutthi said he is currently working on a new show idea. However, the versatile actor didn’t reveal much information about the new show. If, rumors to be believed they are considering one of the ex-cricketers as laughing track and Rameez Raja is the top contender.

A delighted Gutthi fan, Ritesh Singh says, “Star channels are a joke now. I have been watching only Bhayankar Bhuvaneshwar in star sports channels after Gutthi moved out of the Color’s show. It will be a celebration time for us if the Gutthi show is materialized”

Despite attempts, Kapil Sharma was not available for comment. Later his secretary sent us a note which reads “babaji ka thullu”.
