Loosing 8 from 11 matches, last year IPL finalists & ‘King of Good Times’ RCB have taken a big decision. In a letter to Set Max, they have requested not to telecast their remaining matches in IPL-17. Instead, they have asked them to run the last year highlights for their
still remaining loyal fans.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, the team management released this statement at the Chinaswamy stadium. The absence of
after-match parties consistence team performance was cited as the key reason for their poor run. In order to regain their fan base, the management has come up with a special scheme for the fans attending the match at stadiums. They have assured a 50% cash-back in ticket price if RCB won the match. While they were confident of their team’s plan’s success, it was revealed by an insider source that this was to dupe the fans and raise more loans for ex-owner Mallyaji.
While none of the players were available at the conference, Chief Mentor Mallya had sent his reactions. Blaming the Govt for his team’s poor form, he said that he couldn’t give
parties mentor-ship to his team. He has however expressed confidence for a good performance in the upcoming season. When asked about if the team was eying something big in the auctions, they clarified that Mallya was talking about his other team Force India and not RCB.
The Set Max authorities have welcomed the decision as they had already saw a dip in TRPs during RCB matches. “Absence of Sooryavansham was already giving us low TRPs. RCB’s poor form was another blow. But thankfully its sorted now.” said a channel executive. The channel has special plans of running the highlights of Gayle’s 175* knock during ad-breaks to make up for the lost TRPs. They also have backup plans of running clips of Dr Gulati and Rinku Bhabi from TKSS.
