Harman Baweja and Murali Vijay are two different individuals and, both are associated with two entirely different professions, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram told media after a study found that over 90 percent population living in India was unable to differentiate between the two celebrities.
The study claimed that people, on social media, are inquiring each other about Harman Baweja’s rationale in the Indian cricket team as they are confusing with the cricketer’s identity and believing that the actor has started playing cricket after his film career was toppled.
“Jab Kohli nahi chal paa raha hai South Africa k saamne to ye Harman Baweja kya kar lega…. ye team me aaya kaise,” a status message on Facebook read.
While some people have slammed BCCI for selecting an actor for simply promoting a film (as they were in an impression that the actor has been selected in the Indian squad for promoting a film starred by him).
The study also revealed that BCCI is receiving millions of hate mails everyday for selecting an actor under dubious influence of something.
Reportedly, BCCI has pushed the tattered government to intervene and clarify the identity of both the individuals; otherwise it will support Aam Admi Party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In pursuant to BCCI’s warning FM issued a press statement and addressed the media people on the same.
“Harman Baweja was once an actor in the Indian film industry and now…. anyways, the other chap Murali Vijay is an opening batsman in the India’s cricket team and has no association with Baweja of any sort… I request people not to get confused between the cricketer and the actor,” Chidambram said.
Reacting on the report, deeply distressed Murali Vijay said, “It is a matter of great concern for the entire nation as I am being compared with an actor who was there for few days but I have been playing cricket and winning trophies for the country for years.”
However, Baweja is elated to see his popularity and has started getting offers for films.
