Misbah, Afridi hint revoking retirement after series loss to Bangladesh

LAHORE: After Pakistan’s first ever series loss to Bangladesh, an urgent meeting was called at the PCB headquarters. While the conveyor of the meeting is not yet known, the agenda for the meeting was to discuss the possibility of revoking the retirement of the former Pakistani captain Misbah and Afridi.

Among the attendees of the meeting were Inzamam ul Haq, Abdul Razzaq, PCB Chairman Nazam Sethi. Ramiz Raza who is in India for the commentary in IPL attended the meeting over phone and was sometimes practicing the post match presentation dialogues with his phones on unmute.

PCB chairman raised the point that a youngster should be groomed before giving the international exposure. Referring to Misbah he told, “you cannot retire without grooming your substitute. Look at India, Kohli played in the presence of Tendulkar for years.”

Younis Khan added, “I did not retire for the same reason. We have played for a long time and it is our responsibility that our substitutes fill our …”. Afridi interrupted, “Rehne do. Aap ko team se nikala jaayega. Retirement ka mauka nahi milega. Kismat waalon ko hi retirement se baar baar bulaya jaata hai. ” Javed Miandad said, “Misbah you should come forward to rescue the nation. Do not worry about age. Age is just a state of mind.” Imran Khan whispered to Miandad “Do not use RaGa’s dialogues” While Inzamam was dozing off for most of the meeting, he was the most active when the refreshments arrived.

Well the outcome of the meeting which lasted for an hour and a half is not exactly known, the PCB shall come out with an official announcement on Tuesday.

Talking to the reporters after the meeting Misbah hinted his comeback from retirement with a maiden century. While this was clear that the comeback of Misbah and Afridi shall not be in the final ODI of the series
