IPL legends valuable suggestion for Spanish coach ahead of Chile clash

23, Jun 2014 By dasu

Spanish coach del Bosque after their humiliating loss to Holland spoke to some of the IPL legends.

Gavaskar: You know you have 90 minutes minimum. Whatever runs you have scored in your career you always start on zero. Similarly football match starts with 0-0 score line. Opposition, crowd and referee is fresh at the beginning, give first 45 minutes to your opposition, defend well. Once they gets tired in second half, you attack. Mind you, never lift the ball in air. Play all along the ground.

Harsha Bhogle: Across professions, consistency is a direct product of work ethic. This is what my parents taught me and IIM professors often repeated these kind of lines. My comments are generic in nature. You can use these in any situation not only in sports commentary. Mind you these are class comments like Lux soap which I use unlike Sidhu paaji’s comments which are like lifebuoy soap which he uses. Here is one more gem of a suggestion.

Sports teaches you there is always a second innings in life. If you fail today, there’s a second innings maybe two days later. Maybe there’s another opportunity coming up three or six months later. If you look at mistake as learnings and commit never to make a same mistake again, then you actually get better with every mistake that you make. If you want more, there is google & you know my twitter handle.

Dhoni: For me the key part is stoppage time. I will request my team as well as encourage opposition to commit as many fouls possible so that we have a long stoppage time. I will prefer team taking the game to stoppage time and finish it there. All these are inspired from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar movie climax scene.

Rahul Dravid: Try to rotate the team members for different role. You see someone like Casillas is struggling at the goal, play him as forward. Give someone like Ramos goal keeper role for a change. He is a kind of guy who is super active very similar to our Kohli, fights for the ball even with his team members. He feels Xavi, Iniesta are always playing for Barcelona not for Spain! Being a goal keeper he will get more chance to showcase his skill and there is no one to compete with him.

Ravi Shastri: Ladies and gentleman, what a splendid match we had for 95 minutes and 10 seconds. Everyone including me got our money’s worth. At the end you can say the team that hold onto its nerve better came out on top. Here for the presentation party we have …

Del Bosque to Ravi “I asked for match strategy but you gave me post match strategy”.
