Dhoni quits cricket, joins Queens Park Ranger on trials

LondonReports from Loftus Road suggest that Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was spotted in the Queens Park Ranger’s training facility and is rumored to be undergoing a trail the beleaguered Championship club.

All the rumors of the prolific Indian captain quitting cricket for football have been fueled by the series of incidents that have been happening since the past 2 weeks.

Weeks ago, a world famous sports broadcaster had roped in Dhoni to promote the game of football in India. Apparently, Dhoni fell in love with the game that underlined his childhood days.

It was reported that he even played football with a cricket ball during the net practice sessions at the NCA Bangalore, much to the frustration of the other cricketers. Some cricketers who were planning for their post retirement political careers in the offices of the NCA. were reportedly miffed with the current captains’ attitude.

The final nail in the coffin was when future Indian captain, Virat Kohli went and complained against Dhoni’s football madness to the BCCI authorities. An irate Dhoni then decided it was enough and made a public announcement this Saturday that he is quitting all forms of cricket for the glamour of football.

I would like to thank everyone who has been associated with me in this wonderful journey— my parents, my wife, my dog, my bikes, my cricket mates, my friends, my bats, my pads, my helmet, my gloves, my hair stylist, my sponsors, the BBCI, and the bookies for showing so much faith in me over the years.”, he said teary eyed.

It is a decision taken in the interest of the sport and the country. Indian cricket needs to move on. We have also unanimously decided that Vinay Kumar will be the next Indian captain.”, he said marking an end to the interview albeit abruptly.

QPR officials were unavailable for a comment but it was rumored that after the departure of their prolific players, the Rangers were looking for a marque signing and there was no better signing for the club than a man that defines cricket in India.

Dhoni will mostly replace the outgoing Brazilian stopper Julio Cesar and does he have some big shoes to fill. Dhoni was looking confident in the training sessions and hardly looked like a cricketer. It is reported that the deal is worth $5 million but the BCCI denied receiving any money and has ordered an enquiry into it.

The enquiry will be headed by the suspended BCCI president.

If all goes well, Dhoni will be unraveled as the prized signing of the season for Redknapp’s team. One of the QPR’s representative spoke to us on the basis of anonymity and said that, “Life in Championship is tough. We have just made it tougher. But for ourselves.”

It is also reported that Watford are interested in a loan deal for Virat Kohli after their scouts watched him during a celebrity football match at an empty stadium in Delhi. If all goes well, Virat might well follow the steps of his captain to England.

Its pointless playing cricket in India”, said discarded Indian spinner Piyush Chawla. “The money here is very bad and now as the match fixing scandal is out, even the bookies are avoiding our calls. Its demoralizing.” he said with tear in his eyes. “I would jump at a chance to play football in England.” said the pint sized spinner. League 2 side Bury were seemingly interested in signing the leggie but dropped their interest when they saw his restaurant bill.

Other players linked with a move to an English clubs are Gautam Gambir (who is linked with a move to Wolves), Sreesanth (who is linked to a move to Manchester City) and Vinay Kumar (who is linked to a sensational move to Real Madrid who desire a second marquee signing.)
