Mumbai: In a fresh start towards preparations for 2019 World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it compulsory for Wives and Girlfriends (WAGs) of Team India players to become spectators for all net practice sessions. It is being assumed that these steps are being taken in light of the recent outrage over Virat Kohli’s poor batting performance in Sydney semifinal match, which was largely blamed on the presence of his girlfriend, Anushka Sharma in the stadium.
The newly appointed BCCI chief Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya however refused its connection with Virat Kohli’s episode. He simply added that they do not want players to feel lonely and believe that this will serve as a source of encouragement for them. He also told Faking News that accordingly the BCCI is also in process of awarding various grade level contracts to WAGs but cannot disclose any details at the moment. Former Team India coach Greg Chappell welcomed the BCCI’s decision adding that it was originally his idea!
