BCCI asks ECB to allow women’s cricket team to play the ODIs

In a stinging slap to the Indian cricket team which lost second consecutive test by an innings, BCCI has requested ECB to allow the Indian Women team to play the ODIs. In a hurriedly called press conference, the board Vice President Shiv Lal Yadav told the reporters the reason for this extraordinary decision.

Dhoni and Kohli
“let me think of some excuse”

“The women’s team has done extremely well in England. In the test match completed only yesterday they came back to defeat the English team by six wickets. Clearly the team has guts, unlike the men’s team which has shamed us by their abject surrender. We are not very sure whether they would survive even twenty overs in the ODIs and bring further disrepute to Indian Cricket. Winning and losing is a part of any game, but this kind of humiliating defeat is unheard of in the history of Indian Cricket; clearly the team needs rest for a year or two. Moreover, it is time that we allow the boards this freedom to innovate. We are hopeful that ECB would agree, especially after having been forced to refund the tickets for last two days of two consecutive tests,” he said.

When questioned about the alternative plan should the ECB not agree to this epoch making transformation in the cricket, he said that the India A team has been asked to be ready to meet that eventuality.

The Indian team is aghast. Dhoni’s men have been asked to pack up and return by the next available flight and refund 40% of the match fees for last two tests, since these lasted only three days instead of the stipulated five. If the ECB does not agree to BCCI’s request, they would also have to reimburse the travel expenses of the India A team which would replace them.
