The case of Modi’s missing swimming trunks

17, Mar 2015 By frustmanoos

New Delhi: Media in Delhi is rife with reports on External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, getting the boot. This follows PM Modi’s highly successful three-nation tour of Mauritius, Syechelles and Sri Lanka. Experts believe that the visit will have long term impact with respect to China and expanding India’s footprint in the Indian Ocean region. In spite of all the goodwill and strategic advantage that the trip has bestowed, Sushma Swaraj is likely to be shunted out of the government or at least be relegated to a smaller ministry.

PM Modi is said to be personally quite miffed with his visit to the three island nations. In spite of his personal directive to pack his special bhagwa coloured swimming trunks to the External Affairs Minister, it was discovered that the same had been left behind in India. PM Modi, much to his embarrassment, discovered this when he entered the changing room at Anse source d’Argent beach at Seychelles and asked his Personal officer to hand over his trunks. It is believed that the PM had to wait for over an hour in the changing room, only to have his personal officer report that the trunks had not been packed with his luggage.

The bhagwa coloured trunks are believed to be symbolic of the PM’s commitment to the RSS. The trunks also had the name Narendra Damodardas Modi woven into them. It is widely believed that the backside of the trunks had a lotus painted on. Thus, the trunks were a unique amalgam of the PM’s ideology, personal style statement and political affiliation. It is speculated that the swimming trunks cost anywhere between $4mn to $6mn, easily making them the most expensive pair of swimming trunks in the world.

Rumour mills say that the PM directed his wrath at his External Affairs Minister for having failed to pack his luggage properly. This is not the first time that the External Affairs Minister has goofed up. Apparently, she had failed to sing the Chinese National Anthem properly when Xi Jinping had come visiting. She had mixed up all the ‘l’s and ‘r’s, thereby causing considerable angst to Mr. Jinping. PM Modi is also believed to be miffed with Ms. Swaraj for having visited more countries in the past 9 months than him. Apparently, she had denied Modi’s request to accompany her to a couple of exotic destinations in the past.

Grapevine says that Sadhvi Prachi will be put in Sushma’s place. She wears only bhagwa and hence is less likely to forget the PM’s costumes during future visits.
