Political battle over Tehelka case

26, Nov 2013 By Ravi

In a recent set of controversy Tehelka’s editor in chief Mr Tejpal suggested in a statement on Thursday that he has different version of the story for which a young journalist has accused him of ‘sexual assault’.

However, in an apology that Mr Tejpal had emailed to the young woman on Wednesday, he wrote “shameful lapse of judgement that led me to attempt a sexual liaison with you on two occasions on 7 November and 8 November 2013, despite your clear reluctance that you did not want such attention from me.“.

After this confession of Mr. Tejpal , Congress spokesperson and also an Union minister Mr. Manish Tiwari held a press conference where he almost busted into tears while explaining the honesty of Mr. Tejpal. He also remembered Abhishek Manu Singhvi who was also accused for some similar sex scandal.

The common thing between Mr. Tejpal and Mr. Singhvi is that they both decided a harsh punishment for themselves ie- Six months of suspension. Sanjay Jha an eminent leader and spokesperson of congress has decided to file a petition in Supreme court to make Six months as maximum punishment for any sexual assault, Justice Katju have welcomed this decision of Mr. Jha.

National Commission Women’s also called a press conference in the Congress Headquarters saying that they will not interfere in the Tehlka case as the young journalist who was assaulted by Mr. Tejpal belongs to a lesser secular family than the girl on whom Gujrat government was snooping few years back. Prime minister Shri Manmohan Singh and Smt. Sonia Gandhi have not responded on this matter so far as their scripts where not ready and weren’t delivered from PMO due to Sunday-Saturday off.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi has strongly responded on this controversy, In a public meeting he said “It’s because of Congress ruled Goa this controversy came into limelight else it would have also been buried underground” , but no sooner he corrected it as “BJP ruled Goa” and skipped the other part. CPI-M , SP and BSP has welcomed this statement of Mr. Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi also stated that he is so impressed by the way Mr. Tejpal has accepted his fault and hence his honesty should be acknowledged. From an internal sources we were told that, on the suggestion of Mr. Gandhi PMO has declared Bharat-Ratna for Mr. Tejpal and Mini-Bharat Ratna for Shoma Chaudhury (MD, Tehelka), who also played an important role in helping Mr. Tejpal.

We tried to get Mr. Tejpal statement on this issue but he was not available as he was invited for Breakfast party at CBI head quarters where he will be attending ‘clean chit ceremony’ later this evening. Many other congress leaders, terrorists and separatist from J&K are also invited as VIP guests. Jagdish Tytler and Suresh Kalmadi are expected to give the opening ceremony.
