Nagaland ex-home minister first customer to book cheap tickets on JetAirways

19, Feb 2013 By lifeasitis

India’s second largest carrier Jet Airways on Tuesday slashed the prices of its domestic air ticket by up to 50 percent. As per media reports, Jet has announced “India’s biggest air ticket sale” of 20 lakh seats at Rs 2250.

The first customer to book the discounted tickets from Nagaland to Delhi is Imkong Imchen.

Nagaland home minister Imkong L Imchen had resigned from the ruling Naga People’s Front (NPF) government on Tuesday. Imchen put in his papers after the Election Commission authorities seized cash amounting to more than Rs one crore and weapons from his vehicle on Monday by troopers of Assam Rifles.

On Monday, troopers of the Assam Rifles seized Rs 1.10 crore in cash, five pistols, two 7.65 mm calibre rifles and 140 round of 303 rifle ammunition from Imchen’s vehicle at Sathupang area in Wokha district while he was on his way to his Koridanga constituency in Mokokchung district.

This has been confirmed by the spokesperson of the Jet Airways.

On condition of anonymity, party official disclosed that this has been done by recently axed minister to prove that he does not have too much money and belongs to the ‘cattle class’.

Also, he had sought exemption directly from the Jet Airways authorities to allow him to carry the stash of arms of ammunitions. The reason for the same has been kept under wraps when Faking news reporter tried to investigate it further.

While talking to media, Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari said that the booking by tainted minister has been done since the security check at Airport is weaker than the security checks done at check posts and borders. Thus it would be easier for the Minister to smuggle cash through air than it would be by road.

In a surprise reaction, Digvijay Singh has condemned the statements made by his party colleague. He has advised Mr. Tiwari to be careful in making the statements in public about a ‘government servant’ .

On the other hand, Jet Airways is very happy with the big announcement since it would save them advertising and marketing costs that had to be incurred for the offer since the news has generated lot of interest in India and with Indian diaspora. After this, the Jet airways has got free publicity.

According to the spokesperson of Jet Airways, the number of cheap tickets are disappearing as fast as cash reserve in India is depleting.
