Three Chief Ministers are occupying government bungalows in the capital. Bungalows of MahaRashtra CM and Himachal Pradesh CM have been regularized by cabinet committee on accommodation under state government quota meant for allotment to the officials working in the office of the Resident Commissioner in the capital. The request for regularization of accommodation of UttraKhand CM is being processed. The real reason for the three CMs seeking accommodation in Luteyns’ Delhi seems more to do with the quality of food in the respective State Sadans. Much has been written about the quality of food being served in the Lavishly built MahaRashtra Sadan.
The list of former Union Ministers occupying the Bungalows includes Kapil Sibal, Ajit Singh, Farooq Abdullah, Jaipal Reddy, Beni Prasad Verma, M M Pallam Raju, Girija Vyas, Krishna Tirath, S K Jena, Sachin Pilot, Jitendra Singh and Manikrao Hodya Gavit. These and many more have been squatting in the spacious Bungalows even after notices being served to them by House Committee of Parliament. The real reason for these former Ministers not vacating Lutyens’ seems to be much deeper.
It had been reported that during elections huge amount of Liquor and Drugs were seized by the Election Commission. It was all meant to be used in elections by the esteemed Voters. It was our Journal which had reported first that the EC had planned burial of these stuff in the Central Ridge Reserve Forest near Block C of the Lutyens’. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) ,”the urban local body working in Lutyens’ ”is to supply drinking water from the ground water of the reserved area. The water starved MCD proposes to dig bore wells for supplying drinking water in the bungalows.
It is notable that Mr.Naidu , the present Minister of Parliamentary affairs has left the door ajar for some of them. Many of these former Ministers with very high self esteem may get the Bungalows re allotted to them on being MP .
Many of these have put up a condition before vacating the house. Mr.Beni Verma has asked for a monthly quota of 44 barrels of the water from the proposed MCD supply. Mr.Abdullah has asked for supply of sea water and allotment of a new Bungalow on basis of his being a displaced Area Ex- MP.
Many Government employees have asked for a picnic spot to be made in the Ridge with water supply from the same source as proposed for Lutyens’.
