New Delhi/Kharagpur: One of the oldest and most prestigious IITs, IIT-KGP in a press note stated that the institution is going to file a defamation case against CM Arvind Kejriwal. Director of the institute says that people are loosing faith in institute due to Kejriwal.
Issue started out due to CM Kejriwal’s recent statement’s and tweets. These remarks have made people raise serious questions about the admission and education policy of the institute. Some have even written a letter to HRD Ministry to revise institution’s admission policy. Within a few hours of the news coming out in public domain, other organisations like UPSC and Income Tax department came out strongly in the support of IIT-KGP’s decision.
On asking AAP’s spokesperson Ashutosh about the matter, he said, “I’m not qualified enough to talk on such serious issues. Moreover, I’m personally advised by Senior Party leader(s) not to talk much.” He added. Of course, In Hindi. Our team tried to get Kejriwal’s clarification on the issue through mail, to which he replied, “Isme Modi ji ka haath hai, sab mile hue hain Ji.” Why did we even bother asking for his opinion, while we already know his reaction to all acquisitions, said our team to the editor-in-chief.
Such tussle between a CM and a prestigious institution has been seen before in Indian politics. It’d be interesting to see, how the matter resolves.
