25, Jun 2014 By Prateek Shah

New Delhi: Gone are the days when news channels used to enjoy 24 X 7 viewership, with people even watching reruns multiple times. Ever since the elections got over and the acche din took over, most people have switched off the news channels and have been seen trying out other means of entertainment to keep them happy.

The news channels, who have been known to take the boldest of routes to keep users to stay glued to them have gone a step further this time.

Good for TRP!

Starting immediately, the 9 PM Newshour slot will be replaced by Pornhour on Times Now, IBN’s 10 PM show Face the Nation will become Face The Fantasy and India TV’s Aap Ki Adalat will become Aap Ki Hawas.

Talking about the development , Rajdeep Sardesai said, “As a fraternity we conducted secret polls and found out that it is not us that people love but the content we showed on our channel. With the elections having got over, nobody seems to be interested in seeing our channels anymore. Last week even my cameraman slept while recording the show since I was yawning while interviewing the panelists. Bold decisions had to be taken, and we have decided to take them.”

A furious Arnab Goswami, who has been locked in a chamber to help control his anger ever since he got to know of the development has said, “Never ever ever before have I been insulted in the way I have been this time. Do they even know who I am? The nation wants to see me, the nation wants to hear me, the nation loves Arnab, the nation doesn’t like to watch porn. Anybody can get to see a man screwing a woman, but when I screw politicians, now that’s rare.” Official spokesperson from Times Now were unavailable for comment.

Rajat Sharma from India TV said, “Long back, we had stopped focusing on the news, and kept focusing on what the viewers wanted to see. Whether its Cows and Aliens, Mayan Calendars, Stairway to Heaven or now Porn, we are always people focused, and whatever makes them happy, makes us happy”

Prakash Javadekar was unavailable for comment, but it will be interesting to see if Doordarshan also comes up with its own version of these shows to try and stay in the competition.
