KANPUR: “Ghoonghat Ki Aad Se Jo Dekha Hai Dilbar Ka” was a Bollywood film’s song which became very popular in the past days. But now the women do not want to see anything through the veiled face. They want freedom from the veils. They want to move ahead on the path of the improvement. This is noticeable in the protests against the veiled woman’s cover page photo on the Haryana government’s monthly magazine ‘Samvaad’. Various strong women organisations are not appreciating the picture along with its intolerable slogan. These bodies are not ready to accept women in the veil. How can a woman progress in veil now?
They want complete free will as this is time for progress and the slogan Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao provides ample chance to them to bring massive improvement in their educational and social status. Therefore there is no need to remain confined under the protection of the veil. These bodies fighting for the cause of women’s rights find no value in the Ghoonghat Ki aan baan. Everyone is aware of the fact that a programme against the removal of the age-old veil system in the state has been continuing in that state. Then how could the women tolerate this valueless message which goes against the time? The state is known for groups working for Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao, Selfie with Daughter, Nari Shakti.
How could the women of that region attain the eminence of Kalpana Chawla and Sania Mirza if they continued to be veiled? The women are becoming more assertive. They are seen in every field of activity. They are fighting for their causes with all the vehemence. They are pretty confident of attaining their goals. The opposition parties have proved this aspect by fielding a woman candidate for the ensuing presidential poll in the country.
