Sicily: Thousands of users on Facebook and Twitter in India came together last week and crowd-funded a Mumbai to Sicily air ticket for Boneshwar Prasad a victim of a recent celebrity crime. After reaching Sicily Boneshwar took a train to rural parts of Sicily and met none other than the legendary Don Vito Corleone. Boneshwar later described his meeting with Don Corleone in detail. Following description is in Boneshwar’s own words:
When I reached his mansion I was made to wait in a beautiful room for a few minutes, before they took me to his chambers. Don Corleone has now become very old, I kissed his hand (as asked) and he signaled me to sit. That day was the marriage reception of his great grand child, hence I was served with freshly made pasta and a glass of classy wine. Then I said:
Boneshwar: Don Corleone
Godfather: Bonasera, Bonasera, …
Boneshwar: Sir, I am not Bonasera, I am Boneshwar … [Don’s men signaled me NOT to interrupt him] Boneshwar: Godfather, me and hundreds of my colleague were kicked out of our jobs because our company ran into losses. Later we came to know that our CEO embezzled a lot of funds and ran away with money.
Godfather coughed but did not say anything.
Boneshwar: I want justice Godfather, I want justice. Mujhe nyaaye dilaiye Sarkaar
Godfather: Why did you go to the police? Why didn’t you come to me first?
Boneshwar: I didn’t go to anyone Godfather, .. you are the first person I am coming to …. if you have been watching news from India …
Godfather: Yes yes .. Michael what was the news channel we were watching that day? … what was that stupid anchor showing?
Micheal: That channel was showing that how a famous Indian actor has always been respecting family values and then they were showing clippings from a movie where he has played the role of an obedient son.
Godfather: Utterly stupid, respecting family values does not come by some acting in movies … who understands family values better than a our Mafia families. Even that chameleon Tattaglia has better family values. [Godfather coughed again] Boneshwar: The TV channels you saw is just PR building Godfather, all bull-crap, if you watch some good news channels, you would know …
Godfather: I know Bonasera, I have been watching BBC India as well. I know everything.
Boneshwar: I want justice Godfather, I want justice.
Godfather: What is that?
[Then I got up and whispered my wishes in ear of Godfather] Godfather: That I cannot do
Boneshwar: Justice Godfather Justice?
Godfather: You come to me on the day of marriage of my great grand child and you ask me to do a murder?
Boneshwar: Sir, I did not say murder. I only …
Godfather: That’s what I heard. …. [Godfather’s men signaled me to indicate that his hearing is kinda gone, so I should write down whatever I want to say] Boneshwar: I will email you my requests Godfather.
Godfather: Bonasera, Bonasera, what have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully? If you’d come to me in friendship, this scum who ruined your job would be suffering this very day. And if by some chance an honest man like yourself made enemies they would become my enemies. And then, they would fear you. What is with this email business, just write it on a piece of paper and hand it over to Sonny. We will take care of it.
Boneshwar: Be my friend … Godfather [I again kissed Godfather’s hand] Godfather: [To Hagen] Give this job to Clemenza’s grandson. I want reliable people, people who aren’t going to be carried away. I mean, we’re not murderers, in spite of what this undertaker thinks…
Boneshwar: I am not an undertaker Godfather … [Godfather’s men sternly signaled me to quietly finish my pasta and get going.] I returned back to India that night, thanks a lot for all those who contributed money and enabled this trip, I don’t know when will I get justice, but I have high hopes from the Godfather.
