Tihar inmates apply for leaves like Italian Marines

04, Jan 2013 By krisraj

Inmates of Tihar jail have applied for leaves for the upcoming festival seasons in 2013. Christmas holidays allotted to Italian Marines in Kerala was a motivational factor, says Mr. Sukumar who was arrested a year back for stealing temple jewellery worth Rs.1.5 Crores.

Sukumar wants to be allotted a 10-day leave in February so that he could attend the festival happening in a temple near his house, and also that he could spend quality time with his family. He also said he is looking forward to be back in the jail after holidays even before his leaves expire.

Jail Superintent Mr.Jadayu Bharadwaj, IG of police expressed his views to Faking News. He said, “Inmates are excited to go home and meet the family. Even we wardens and other officers also could spend time with our respective families. We are sure they will get back within the time. We are even planning for a Jail trip to Ooty or Kodaikanal so that the inmates could have good fun,” he added.

Leaves are provided on first come first serve basis. Inmates who belong to far parts of the country will also be given IRCTC access to book their tickets. So it is also a matter of sheer luck for them. Government holidays and weekends won’t be added in leave category.
