New Delhi. In a rather usual event, soon to retire, President Prathiba Patil’s study room caught fire late last night.

“Prathiba madam usually watches the repeat telecast of Taarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma at 11 p.m. , but today she had to miss it, as her DTH service wasn’t working due to heavy rains. Thankfully she wasn’t in the room while it caught fire!” told her secretary Mr. Digvijaya Pandey.

Many valuables have been reported to be damaged in the fire, which included all the recipes Prathiba Patil had written while watching the episodes of Master Chef Australia.

“That was madam’s favourite TV Show! She’d afford missing SatyaMeva Jayate, but Master Chef, never!” said her maid.

Prathiba Patil used to make notes of all the recipes they showed in the show and rumour has it that she was going to start her own show “Khaana Sarkari Khazana Season 2” on the lines of Master Chef, post retirement.

Initial reports say that the fire was caused due to a short circuit, as usual. But many others beg to differ.

Team Anna has hinted (through their tweets) that this might be a conspiracy to delay the clemency process of Ajmal Kasab and 49 others waiting for their chance. They have demanded an independent probe into this(through their tweets).

Not only recipes, but other valuable goods were also gutted in the fire, which included a home theater system, a table tennis table and a few boarding passes she had kept for her personal collection.

The furniture in the room was also damaged, which was gifted to her by her close friend Sonia Godbole from Italy.

Baba Ramdev has slammed the government saying “This is a conspiracy! How can it be a co-incidence that Swedish furniture giant IKEA announces an investment of Rs 10,500 crore in India and this happens! They think they can fool us? FDI is taking us down!” No one from the media dared to decipher what this meant.

The NDA is still undecided what to comment on the frequent fire incidents that have taken place, first in the Finance Ministry’s office and then in Mantralaya. They will be holding a meeting this(or may be next) weekend to comment on this.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banarjee has updated her facebook status as “This is a bad omen! Even Rashtrapati Bhavan does not want Pranab Mukherjee in there!”
