Manmohan Singh's letter to Rajapakshe

14, Nov 2013 By iamgreat

There has been a lot of speculation and rumors about the contents of Man Mohan’s letter to Rajapakshe the Sri Lankan President  explaining his inability to attend CHOGM. Faking News reporter has managed to get hold of a copy of this letter.

Manmohan Singh
Burdened with responsibilities.

Dear President Rajapakshe,

I extend my best wishes to the citizens of Sri Lanka and assure them that India always has their welfare and interests in mind in all world forums.

Though I and some of my Cabinet colleagues are very keen to attend the CHOGM in Sri Lanka,  for two very compelling and unavoidable circumstances, I am unable to attend the meeting. The November of 2013 has turned out to be unusually very important because of two illustrious sons of India. My absence from the country will be seen as a disrespect to these two great sons of India – Jawaharlal Nehru and Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

1)      As you are aware,14th, November is the birthday of Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India and also the great grandfather of Rahul Gandhi, our next Prime Minister and great grandson of Nehru. While my absence in the past few years has gone unnoticed this year my presence has become very critical. Already we had to forfeit our claims and legacy on the Iron Man of India and my absence will enable our main opposition party candidate to claim Chacha Nehru as his property and legacy. We cannot afford to lose more of our legacy.

2)      This 14th, November, 2013 is also a momentous day for the other illustrious son of India, Sachin Tendulkar. As you are aware he is playing his last and 200th test match. The test match may not last for full five days and could end on 17th, itself when CHOGM is scheduled. As  Prime Minister of secular India, I cannot show disrespect to the secular GOD of cricket, by attending a meeting in Sri Lanka.

Even If I attend the CHOGM meet, my presence and speeches there will be blacked out by the TV channels in India, as they will be busy 24×7 telecasting and highlighting Sachin. As it is I am not getting enough news coverage, even though my esteemed cabinet colleague  Manish Tiwari has been kind enough to send a ‘friendly  advisory’ to all TV channels on this aspect. In spite of this advisory I have no hopes of my SriLankan visit being aired on TV channels.

This being an election year, I have conveyed through my other colleague Shri. Sharad Pawar, my wish to attend the Test match from 14th, onwards and also my wish to present a memento to Sachin during the match presentation ceremony. The TV channels will have no other option but to show me on TV and this will be a big boost to our electoral prospects.

I also intend announcing Sachin as the brand ambassador of the Congress party to boost our chances further.

I am sure as a Head of State, you will understand and appreciate the compulsions and dharma of coalition Politics.

On my behalf and on behalf of my countrymen,I wish the CHOGM all success.

Yours friendly,

Man Mohan Singh.
