Janakpuri: Late last Friday, Gaurav Chori created a storm on his Facebook profile by posting two pictures of a bottle of Glenlivet single malt whiskey along with a caption informing the world about its entry into his bar.

The move hit bull’s eye as within fifteen minutes his wall was flooded with congratulatory comments and ‘likes’ from ‘friends’ most of whom then self-invited themselves to his house for a ‘catch-up over drinks’. Some of these were people whom Gaurav had not seen since nursery class.

Faking News was unable to verify whether the bottle was full or empty at the time of posting of the picture.

However Gaurav was ecstatic. “I didn’t even get so many congratulatory messages on my wedding!! I have been uploading random pictures of even more random objects in the name of photography and never got any ‘likes’ and now all I do is post two pictures of a single malt bottle and the whole world wants to come over!! Had I known this earlier, I would have clicked a picture of every bottle in the theka and put it on my wall.” he shrieked over the phone.

But not everybody is amused.

“His antics on Facebook have been legendary but this crosses all the limits!!” said one of his Facebook ‘friends’ on the condition of anonymity “Last year he travelled to Europe and posted pictures of Starbucks cups in each city where he had coffee. They all looked the same to us but he clearly thought that they were different. A few months earlier he had gone on his honeymoon and posted an hourly picture of him canoodling with his wife.  Thank God I don’t check Facebook after 10 pm!!”

“As if a Facebook check-in at every airport, hotel and toilet wasn’t enough, now I have to deal with the pictures of alcohol bottles in my face the first thing in the morning. A few weeks earlier he created a Facebook event to catch the TV telecast of a movie and sent an invite to this wife!!” lamented another Facebook ‘friend’.

Faking News caught with Tanuj Khosla, its in-house expert on such issues. “I don’t understand what the fuss is all about.” said Tanuj while adding some chyawanprash to his butter chicken “Gaurav’s persistence has finally paid off with people giving some attention to his Facebook antics. All he now needs to do is figure out a way to put Royal Stag in a bottle of Glenlivet and the party can continue forever!!”
