“I had dropped off my bike for servicing at the authorized service centre and was walking back home with the helmet in my hand when a constable stopped me at a nakabandi and asked me why I was carrying the helmet in my hand instead of wearing it on my head. I told him that I had given my bike for servicing and was just going back home as I did not want to leave the helmet at service centre. But he was not ready to listen at all. He told me that helmet is meant to be worn on the head and not to be held in the hand,” said a frustrated Raju.

When I told him that I was not driving a bike and was walking the constable replied, “Woh sab humko nahi malum. Hum toh bas apna duty kar rahe hai. Upar se order mila hai ki koi bhi bike pe helmet ke bina dikhe toh usse fine karo. Aur agar kisi ne helmet pehenne ke bajay bike pe ya haath mey rakha ho toh usse bhi fine karo”.
