Bangalore rains causes potholes to overflow, city converted into water sports park

20, Jul 2013 By bkmrao

The tank beds and the lake beds in the city having been encroached upon by land sharks & vested interests and residential sites & commercial complex’s coming up in those place, there is no place for the water to flow and this has caused the potholes in the city’s road to overflow. The situation is very grave as the overflowing water has entered and submerged the shops & establishments in the basement of complexes( which of course is meant for parking lot as per the plans got sanctioned from the BBMP (The Bangalore City corporation).  People inside and their goods, wares and furniture are virtually floating in the water.

The BBMP has as usual opened its eyes after a deep slumber and is on the verge of floating tenders (Costing crores of rupees) to pump out the water to the cauvery river in Mysore. As an alternative it is also requesting the State Govt., to ask the centre to send Military Personnel to clear the city. As per the rumors making rounds the state govt. has already sent an SOS to the centre.

In an another development, planning to cash in on the situation, the car race club of India and the two wheelers association of India is planning to organize a cross city race with an whopping entrance fee and cash prize of more than 5 crore for the First prize winner. But in a press note, they have said that they will not be responsible for any accidents, death, injuries and other damages caused to the driver and their associates in the vehicle.

Not to be left behind, the owners of boats from the neighbouring coastal districts and from the other states close to the border have brought their boats for giving joy rides in the over filled pot holes.

The water sports authority of India is also planning a special water sports in the city.. this was disclosed by the members of the authority who air dashed to the city to personally see the situation.

As if these are not enough, herds of elephants from near by forests in the state and neighboring Tamil Nadu & Andhra have entered the city in search of drinking water as most of the forest land has been encroached upon by the Influential & the mighty. This is posing a big problem for the staff in the forest department as the forest officers & IFS officials have been transferred to the other Govt. depts. and Govt. undertakings like Power, Tourism, as OSDs in the offices of the new State Ministers, or as town planning Heads, excise heads etc.etc.
