Amitabh Bachchan to act as President on 26th January to give the world a good impression

05, Jan 2013 By Sandeep Kadian

After giving a good impression of India to the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, Indian government is planning to give a good impression of the country to the entire world. Bollywood superstar Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has been roped in to act as the Indian President during the Republic Day parade to give a good impression of the Indian head of state to the entire world.

Making this announcement, Home minister Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde said, “India’s image in the world has suffered a lot during the past few weeks. First there was that stupid rape of a girl in the capital which got unwanted international attention. Then, the peaceful manner in which Delhi police reacted to anti-rape protests got a lot of negative coverage. We needed to improve our image after incidents like those so we have decided to take this step.”

Sources say that Sachin Tendulkar too was considered but he lost out to Big B as the authorities wanted an authoritarian voice

Explaining the rationale behind choosing Amit ji over Pranab Da, Mr. Shinde said, “We needed to show a strong personality as the head of state of Republic of India. Someone whose voice commands respect and draws attention towards the speaker. For all his virtues, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee isn’t the best of speakers. Either he puts people to sleep or leaves them confused about what he said due to his accent.  Physically too, Mr. Bachchan is a much more impressive figure than Pranab Da. Tall, broad shouldered with that French beard, he will impress the international audience a lot.”

Mr. Shinde has rubbished reports that there was a plan to permanently replace the Home Minister to avoid giving a continuous bad impression to the world.

While BJP refused to make any comment on this one day replacement fearing backlash from millions of Amitabh Bachchan fans across India and on Twitter, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said, “The government must clarify. Will Amitabh ji be becoming President of both India and Bharat or is this just for India?”

Amitabh Bachchan has confirmed this news via Twitter. In a series of tweets from his twitter handle @SrBachchan, he said, “Delighted to play the part of Indian president during the Republic Day parade. I am just an artist and my job is to act whenever the camera is on. There will be several cameras at Rajpath so it will be like acting in any other film. Kaun Banega Crorepati is about to conclude so I was looking for some fresh challenges. To give a good impression of India in current scenario is as challenging as it gets.”

The amount of money being charged by Amitabh Bachchan for this one day job has been kept secret. However, Mr. Bachchan will not be getting any perks like a free around the world tour, usually associated with the office of the Indian President.

Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan has already started practicing his speech for 26th January 2043.
