In a tearful speech, Dhinchak Pooja calls Taher Shah “the artist of my life”

After this year’s MTV Video Music Awards went off the air, it was announced that Dhinchak Pooja won her first VMA for the Best Editing. The Best Editing award went to her “Selfie Maine Leli Aaj” video. The unconventional clip features brief shots of Dhinchak Pooja taking selfies and singing.

During her acceptance speech, she spoke directly to Taher Shah, telling him how much of an inspiration she is. During her tearful speech, she called Taher Shah “the artist of my life” and said the award should have gone to Angel. Taher Shah, also teary-eyed, mouthed “I should have won the award” at her.

At the end of the ceremony to commemorate her song, Dhinchak Pooja, along with co-stars, took a selfie which surpassed Ellen’s Oscar selfie in the number of retweets last night.

The organizers also disclosed that Dhinchak Pooja’s new song “Dilon Ka Shooter” was supposed to win the Best Editing award, but due to legal concerns that she was not wearing a helmet, the award was given to “Selfie Maine Leli Aaj” which was shot while she was in a car.

The day after the awards, she tweeted about her milestone achievement: “The world said I would never make it. I proved it wrong! ”.
