Game Of Thrones forces EC to postpone election

10, Jan 2014 By neutron

In an unexpected turn of events, the Election Commission of India has postponed the upcoming general election. A press release said that dates would be announced in June, as against the earlier March-April deadline.

Game of Thrones
This summer, winter is coming.

Although no clarification was given by EC, highly placed sources have confirmed that season 4 of popular fantasy drama series Game of Thrones was the main reason behind this decision. Season 4 of the series premiers from April 6,2014.

Here is what leaders from various political parties had to say abut EC’s big decision:

AAP: They can conduct elections whenever they want.We are not here for elections, but it’s good that we are getting more time to show our administrative skills. About Game of thrones, the leader said, “We have heard about the show but we have been very busy with protests, elections & freebies. We haven’t seen it yet.The leader signs off with,”Lekin agar janta chahti hai to hum zaroor dekhenge”.This statement was greeted with a loud roar from his supporters & about two dozen zhadoos went up in the air,all pointing straight towards the sky. Meanwhile sources in AAP have confirmed that AAP is planning to give high speed wi-fi connectivity at public places for free. They even confirm that AK has been a huge torrent & DC++ fan since his IIT days.

BJP: We are surprised at the decision. We do not know whether it’s a ploy to delay the inevitable or part of some other strategy to counter the strong Modi Wave riding on good governance. But  nevertheless the wave is strong enough to sustain itself & will pass this test as well. When asked about Game of thrones, the leader said, “We do not watch such shows. They erode our Indian culture & values. We only watch shows which have Alok Nath as Babuji. But yes, once we come to power we’ll ask the US to cast him in Game Of Thrones, so that every Indian family can watch the show together at prime time”. He also added that  it is their way of providing an alternative to The Newshour.

Congress: The decision must have been taken after due deliberation. We respect EC’s decision. EC is an autonomous body & we do not interfere in the operation of such constitutional bodies in any manner whatsoever. When asked about Game of Thrones, he said, “Rahul ji loves Game Of Thrones. In fact, Hodor is his favourite character. The show has made him a modern, truly Secular leader. It has given him vision, which allows him to see things which most of us cannot even imagine. We all love Game of Thrones. Many a times we even play the episodes during Cabinet & All India Congress Committee (AICC) meetings. This is our way of conserving electricity”. The leader chose not to answer when asked if this could be the reason behind the so-called policy paralysis.

SP:It’s a good decision. We welcome it. Elections should be held in November 2014 & results in December. So that we can celebrate our victory in next year’s Saifai Mahotsav. This will give time to our leaders to come back from their foreign study tour & prepare for the elections. Reports from Lucknow claim that talks are on to bring Lady Gaga for next year’s mahotsav. The leader said that  he is a huge fan of Game of Thrones & even went into depression after The Red Wedding, but has asked us not to publish his views on the show as it would angry SP supremo who is a hard-core samajwadi & feels that the show is against everything  that he stands for.

Meanwhile, the most unexpected reaction came from the BCCI headquarters. They were planning to shift a part of the IPL to a foreign location due to the elections, but are now relieved as the election poses no real threat to the IPL,which  means that they are now eligible for free water, free electricity & free police. A top BCCI functionary said, “Governments may come & go, elections are trivial issues, what matters is who controls cricket. For, that is the real crown, full of thrones & we are game for it”.
