Emraan Hashmi to star in Kejriwal biopic

21, Jan 2014 By Bakasur

Reports confirm Emraan Hashmi is set to play the lead character in Mahesh Bhatt’s latest film Common. The biopic depicts the life and times of questionable leader and current Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Speculations have been rife about the secret auditions after several B-grade actors were spotted leaving Mahesh Bhatt’s house even while daughters Pooja and Alia were out.

Director Mohit Suri who works closely with Bhatt’s production company Vishesh Films offered some insight on conditions of anonymity.

FN Reporter: Why did you choose Arvind Kejriwal as the subject of a film?

Anonymous: Why not? Take a life of obscure existence, a steep rise and couple that with love for power and fame and mix it with the charms of a forbidden alliance that leads to an ignominious fall, that’s the classic script of a Mahesh Bhatt production.

FN Reporter: Ok. Understood. But Emraan Hashmi?

Anonymous: Emraan and AK are similar in more than one ways.

FN Reporter: Really?

Anonymous: Yes. To name a few of Emraan’s traits, he started his career with Footpath, peaked at Crook and his latest is Ghanchakkar. He is an unconvincing actor, yet manages to attract 38% of movie-goers. He is the best in HIS league. He “plays” the middle class in his movies. In his characters he ends up loving the women he makes us believe he hates. Now take these traits and ask any sane person to take a guess.

FN Reporter: Umm. Makes sense.

Anonymous: Wait there is more, Kejriwal and Emraan without makeup look exactly the same, they have just not seen without it ever. There was a commercial angle to it too. People who like Arvind Kejriwal and vote for him are the people who love Emraan Hashmi and watch his films, a best case scenario for us.

FN Reporter: So why is the film titled “Common”

Anonymous: (laughs) There is no sinister motive behind it. Its just that one word names perform better than something like Iski Topi Uske Sir OR Tu Jhuk Mai Lagaun.
