After actor Aamir Khan responded on Koffee With Karan’s rapid fire round with some rather unusual answers, it has been revealed that the actor was slyly campaigning for Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
In an announcement this morning, Khan’s publicist has revealed that the actor will soon be joining the AAP ranks as its public face and chief campaigner.
Featured in the second episode of Koffee With Karan’s Season 4, Khan approached the famed ‘rapid fire’ round with the resolve to look as ordinary as possible. Rumours had begun to fly thick and fast after he tried extra hard to project himself as an aam aadmi on the show. When asked by host Johar to rate himself on certain parameters on a scale of 1 to 10, Khan termed himself a “5 on 10” in all categories. He insisted that in all departments – acting, direction, marriage and parenthood – he is strictly average.
His insistence to appear ‘aam’ puzzled Johar, who is used to having rather obnoxious guests on his much-coveted couch. “But you see, this was the best platform for Aamir to kick-start his career as a messiah of the masses,” said his publicist to the media. “In rating himself as average, he has tried to project himself as a common man.”
Aamir had begun his homework early on, with his show “Satyamev Jayate’ that showcased problems ailing Indian society. “That show was Aamir’s initiation into social service,” explained the publicist. “His expressions, his long pauses, even his impromptu tears – everything had been designed to make the show look socially relevant and ease his ascent into politics.”
Aamir made the ultimate move when his son was born – he has named him ‘Azaad’.
Reportedly, Arvind Kejriwal had a moment of epiphany when he watched Karan Johar’s show. “Sometimes, all you need is a cosmic hint,” he told the press. “When Aamir revealed himself as an aam aadmi, it moved my heart in a way even Anna’s devotion to fasts could not. If we set his personal finances, his market value and his fleet of imported cars aside, Khan is definitely a common man. And to top it, he has named his son Azaad – it’s the perfect way to establish a dynasty! We already have a successor!”
Word has it that this new partnership has already sent Bollywood stars scurrying for similar alliances. In a bid to impress Kejriwal, Kareena Kapoor has decided to name her future daughter Kranti, while Imran Khan’s soon-to-be-born son will be named Watan. Karan Johar has decided to do away with his ‘ranking’ question altogether, lest his favourite actor SRK also join the bandwagon and say adieu to B-town!
